After Congress filed an affidavitShiv Sena has also joined the opposition against Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Tree Authority's decision to cut 2,700 trees in Aarey Colony for the construction of Metro 3 car shed.

On Wednesday, Shiv Sena corporator Yashwant Jadhav filed a write petition in Bombay High Court challenging the decision taken by Tree Authority alleging that the Aarey proposal put forward by BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi for voting was "nothing but fraud".

Jadhav heads the BMC standing committee and is a member of the Tree Authority. In his petition, the Shiv Sena corporator further alleged that during the Tree Authority's meeting, no required provision was followed.

Jadhav informed that the members of the Tree Authority wanted the meeting to be adjourned. However, the meeting was held on short notice and members weren't allowed to speak.

Earlier on Saturday, two expert members had resigned from the Tree Authority claiming that they were tricked into voting. The experts informed that they were not in favour of cutting the trees. Similarly, Shiv Sena members said that they arrived late to the meeting.
