Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut to come up with a biopic on late Bal Thackeray

MP Sanjay Raut will announce the lead actors and director on December 22

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut is planning to make a biopic on Shiv Sena founder, late Bal Thackeray. Raut who is also an executive editor of the party’s mouthpiece 'Saamana' said that he would be producing the movie which will be made in Hindi and Marathi.

Raut told TOI,

It is my dream project. It won’t be a documentary, but a feature film like the biopics on Mahatma Gandhi and [Nelson] Mandela.”

On December 21, the film will be announced in Mumbai at an event where Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and SS chief Uddhav Thackeray will be present.

Raut has worked with senior Thackeray for more than two decades. Other than producing, he has written the story.

Sanjay Raut to TOI,

The shooting is expected to start in January, and I am planning to release the film early 2019. The shoot will take at least three to four months. We plan to shoot several scenes at actual locations where those incidents took place. Most of these locations are in Mumbai.”

It seems that Raut has decided who will be the lead actor and who will be a director but he will be announcing the same on December 21.

Though there are several movies which directly or indirectly refer to late Bal Thackeray, this will be the first biopic.
