Will Pranab Mukherjee be Prime Ministerial face for BJP?

After the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) invited the former President of India – Pranab Mukherjee – to speak in Nagpur, there were many speculations and criticism against the former president as he accepted the invitation.

As this happened, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that Pranab Mukherjee might become the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate for NDA in the upcoming elections.

He further said that for BJP to gain more votes in the upcoming polls, the RSS invited Pranab Mukherjee and he might be the PM candidate. Raut claimed that BJP will not get a majority in the polls and its 110 seats will be reduced in the Lok Sabha.

However, daughter of the former President, Sharmistha Mukherjee rubbished the claims made by Shiv Sena and said that Pranab Mukherjee is not going to participate in politics.

Reacting to Raut’s statement, BJP leader Ramdas Kadam said that it seems like Sanjay Raut is speaking the words of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. He further added that BJP-led NDA will form the government in 2019. Raut said this is an article published on Samana – a mouthpiece of Shiv Sena.'
