Under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign ‘Sampark for Samarthan’, ahead of the elections in Maharashtra and country, BJP President and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari met celebrities in Mumbai at their residences. Shah, during his visit in Mumbai, met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at latter’s residence – Matoshri – and spoke for almost two hours in solitude.

However, according to sources, Thackeray demanded 152 Vidhan Sabha seats with Chief Minister’s post. This is just a mere speculation being drawn in the political circles. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present during the meet but the main discussion on alliance was between Thackeray and Shah. During the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll, Shiv Sena got over two and a half lakh votes which established that the party has a hold in Maharashtra too.

In this meeting, the Shiv Sena chief has shown his affirmative approach towards the alliance but with his conditions of 152 seats in the legislative assembly and the Chief Minister’s post. According to sources, Thackeray seems to be firm on these demands.

However, some BJP leaders are not in favour of this deal. Of the demanded 152 seats, BJP is willing to give 130 seats to Shiv Sena in the legislative assembly. For Shiv Sena’s game to be successful, they should let the BJP contest alone.
