With the arrest of MLA Navneet Rana and Ravi RanaBJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Saturday, April 23, mentioned that he would go to the Khar police stations to meet the couple. According to reports, he alleged that those protesting outside the MLA's home were not Shiv Sainiks, but goons. 

Based on accounts, Somaiya added that the end of the MVA government has come and that the people will expose the scam. Following his visit to the police station, Somaiya was reportedly attacked and took to Twitter to say, "Heavy stone throwing at Khar Police Station by Shivsena Gundas, my car window glass broken, i am injured,. rushing to bandra police station".

In the aftermath of this, Devendra Fadnavis demanded action against the alleged attack on Somaiya. Further, Somaiya's tweet elaborated on his alleged ordeal. 

Commenting on this, BJP Chief Chandrakant Patil said that the attack on Somaiya transpired on the premises of the police station. He added that the MVA government is propagating violence in front of the police, cited a report by ANI. 

Later, Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut took a press conference where he remarked that Somaiya is an accused in the INS Vikrant case and has misled India. He added that if the public has voiced their anger against this, BJP should not be hurt and uttered that Maharashtra's people will not forgive such people. 

On Sunday, April 24, Somaiya while interacting with media persons stated that he had informed the Centre about his attack and seeks a report. Similarly, Maharashtra Home Minister, Dilip Walse Patil agreed that while there was an attack, the investigation is underway to ascertain who is behind it. 

He uttered that the police will take action against those who are guilty and that a case has been registered in the matter. In the meantime, Fadnavis alleged that an attempt was made to attack Somaiya and thus, has requested the Centre to take action.
