On Saturday, April 23, Shiv Sena workers protested outside the Mumbai residence of Amravati MP Navneet Rana in Khar since she had planned to chant the Hanuman Chalisa with her husband, MLA Ravi Rana outside "Matoshree" the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray

Navneet Rana was quoted in a report by the news agency ANI claiming that Thackeray had ordered the Shiv Sena workers to heckle them. She alleged that they were breaking barricades and went on to threaten that she will chant the Hanuman Chalisa. Rana commented that the CM only knows how to throw people in jail. 

According to reports, later Ravi Rana took to social media to allege that the police were not permitting them to step outside their house. Further claiming that Shiv Sena workers were trying to attack them in their home. He added that they considered "Matoshree" as a temple and that Thackeray was merely seeking political gains. 

Further, Shiv Sena leader Anil Desai while interacting with the media elaborated on how the duo challenged the law and order situation and were prompted to do so by some. He said that the Shiv Sena workers were there to protect Thackeray's residence, with the police taking care of the occurrence. 

With many prominent Shiv Sena leaders gathering outside Rana's residence, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil was quoted by ANI elucidating how the Rana's were looking to tarnish the state government's image and hamper the atmosphere.

Patil questioned the need to chant the Hanuman Chalisa outside "Matoshree" and mentioned that the couple could do so at their residence, but are acting at the behest of someone. He stated that the law and order situation in Mumbai, as well as the state, is good. But some are trying to show that it isn't the case.

In the midst of this, ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis, in accordance with reports, uttered that the condition in Maharashtra is such that if anyone speaks against corruption they are threatened. At the same time, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut while talking to media persons exclaimed that if anyone attempts to come to their residence, they have the right to answer in a similar language. 

In the aftermath of this, the coupled declared that they had cancelled the plan to chant the Hanuman Chalisa outside "Matoshree" considering PM Modi's visit. However, Shiv Sena workers reportedly refused to leave the duo's residence until they apologized.

Later, the police reached the residence of Rana's and took them to the Khar police station. Following this, a case was registered against them. After this, the duo gave a written complaint to the Mumbai Police, requesting that Thackeray, Anil Parab, Sanjay Raut and those present outside their house be booked. Later the couple was taken to court in Mumbai and have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days, cited accounts. 

Based on narratives, an FIR was registered against those Shiv Sainiks who gathered outside the Rana residence. Amid this, BJP leader, Kirit Somaiya stated that he will visit Khar police station to see the couple, during this, he was reportedly attacked
