Shiv Sena ministers Subhash Desai, Ravindra Waikar and MLA Sunil Prabhu met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at his Varsha residence on Tuesday night to discuss the issue of GST that will come into effect from July 1. They demanded that BMC should not suffer financial loss due to decrease in its coffers due to the closure of octroi system.
The Sena delegation sought relief to the BMC from the State government post implementation of the GST. The civic body will lose revenue of Rs 7,000 crore due to cancellation of the octroi and the State government should pay the amount to the civic body by making an amendment in the law, informed industries minister Subhash Desai.
Minister of state for housing, Ravindra Waikar, said that the chief minister has assured them to clear all their doubts at the time of hearing in this regard.
