On Tuesday, February 27, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar ordered a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the allegations made by Maratha social activist Manoj Jarange-Patil that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wants him dead.
On Sunday, Jarange-Patil alleged that Devendra Fadnavis was planning to eliminate him. While speaking to reporters in the Antarwali-Saraati village, he said, “The government is going all-out to defame me. It wants me to die through a hunger strike. It is conspiring to eliminate me by poisoning me with saline. And that is why I have stopped taking IV fluids. Fadnavis is dreaming of eliminating me through an encounter”.
“Entire Maharashtra has seen my work for the Maratha community. Reservation to the Marathas was given when I was CM. It passed the legal test till I was CM. I have been working for the community on various fronts and therefore when Manoj Jarange-Patil targeted me, the community stood by me. But I have nothing against him. It must be probed as to who is behind him. The conspiracy behind it is coming out now. Why did lathicharge take place? Where did the stones come from? Who instigated the violence? It is now coming out as those under arrest are revealing who is seen in photos and who is supplying money,” Fadnavis said in the Assembly.

Leaders from both the BJP and Congress called for an investigation into Jarange-Patil’s claims accusing Devendra Fadnavis of plotting to harm him by poisoning his saline.
Rahul Narvekar ordered SIT investigation
On Tuesday, Narvekar said, “The House does not support violence and violent statements. The issue is important and needs to be tackled seriously. The government should form an SIT to probe this”.
