After Maharashtra government told Bombay High Court that the government has only accepted the recommendation made by the State Backward Class Commission’s report on Maratha reservation, the state government also announced the formation of a sub-committee and passed the ordinance on Thursday night.
The sub-committee has been formed under the leadership of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil including Vinod Tawde, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Eknath Shinde, Ram Shinde, Vishnu Savra, and Subhash Deshmukh. While accepting the report’s recommendations, the state government has agreed to provide reservation to Maratha community under Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) category.
The sub-committee has been formed to process the recommendations as law. Earlier, CM Fadnavis had appealed the Maratha community to prepare for celebration on December 1.
