The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran Sanyukt Sanghatana Sangharsh Samiti has launched a statewide indefinite strike from Wednesday.

The agitation, that was launched in Azad Maidan, is demanding revision of payscales and pension scales for the Pradhikaran's employees in Maharashtra.

According to the Sanghatana, payscale revisions were fixed for five state authorities at a review meeting of the water supply and hygiene department on 22 November 2012. The Sanghatana says that a similar fixing of pay scales should be done for Pradhikaran employees as well. A suggestion to this efffect was forwarded to the then chief minister. However, no action has been taken on the recommendations so far, says the Sanghatana. The Sanghtana's president Devendra Landge says that the current agitation has been launched to focus attention on the long pending issues.
