It has been a year since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the reins of the Sushant Singh Rajput case. However, there has been no real headway in the case. On Thursday, Maharashtra Congress raised questions regarding CBI's "silence" over the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

This is not the first time that the Maharashtra Congress has tried to draw attention towards this matter. Earlier in June, on the death anniversary of the actor too Maharashtra Congress and NCP had raised similar questions and asked for an update on the investigations.

On Thursday, Maharastra Congress has alleged that the national investigation agencies were being used by the Centre for its own "political agenda".

Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant posted a series of tweets in this regards. His Tweet reads, "It's been a year today since CBI took over investigation of unfortunate death of Sushant Singh Rajput from Bihar police. Registration of FIR by Bihar police was against article 177 of CRPC. Supreme court also had expressed satisfaction in the overall investigation by Mumbai Police".

He added that "CBI is maintaining deliberate silence. This mockery of investigation by national investigation agencies is an apt example of how these agencies are being used by Modi government for their political agenda," he alleged in a tweet.

In another tweet, Sawant claimed that Gupteshwar Pandey (former Bihar DGP) was being used to further the political agenda of the BJP, which was to "malign" the image of the Mumbai police and "destabilise" the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.

"BJP stooped to the lowest possible level when they openly gave murder, rape angles and used Sushant's death in Bihar elections as well," the Congress leader alleged in yet another Tweet.

There was a "coordinated attack" on the MVA government, claimed Sawant, whose party shares power in the state along with the Shiv Sena and NCP in Maharashtra.

Sushant Singh Rajput was a popular Bollywood actor that had made it big from Television. He is best known for his work in the biopic M S Dhoni: The Untold Story. He was found hanging in his Bandra home on June 14, 2020. Mumbai Police had alleged that the actor had committed suicide. Months later, the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to take over the probe from Mumbai Police. So far, the agency has not reached at any conclusion.

There were reports in September 2020 that claimed that CBI had ruled out murder in this case. Clarifying their stance in this regard, CBI had said,  "The CBI is conducting an investigation related to death of Sh. Sushant Singh Rajput in a systematic and professional way. Certain media reports attributed to CBI investigation are speculative and not based on facts. It is reiterated that as a matter of Policy, CBI does not share details of ongoing investigation."
