License of food adulterers will be revoked, says MoS Food and Drug Administration Rajendra Patil

The Minister of State for Food and Drug Administration Rajendra Patil Yadravkar directed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to intensify its campaign against adulterating. He also ordered to immediately revoke the licenses of those who adulterate food with edible oils.

“If anyone is playing with the health of the people of the state by adulterating food with edible oils, it will not be tolerated,” said the minister.

In the last few days, cases of adulteration of edible oils have come to light in the state. As a result, review meeting of the Food and Drug Administration Department was held on Tuesday, February 9, under the chairmanship of Yadravkar.

“The department supervise and make surprise visits to detect adulteration of prohibited food items, milk and dairy products along with edible oil and take strict action against offenders,” said Minister of State Rajendra Patil Yadravkar.

Moreover, he has also directed to submit a report on this by February 20, 2021.

The Minister of State for Public Health and Family said that measures should be taken to prevent the adulteration. Besides, awareness should be raised to detect adulteration, crackdown on counterfeit shops, companies, establishments, shopkeepers.

He also directed immediate revocation of food licenses of traders who frequently adulterate edible oils. He also reviewed Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Amravati and Konkan divisions.

The meeting was attended by Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Abhimanyu Kale, Joint Secretary of Medical Education and Drugs Department Shivaji Patankar, Joint Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration Shailesh Adhav, Brihanmumbai Division Joint Commissioner Shashikant Kekare, Konkan Division Joint Commissioner Suresh Deshmukh, Pune Division Joint Commissioner Shivaji Desai, Nashik Division. Joint Commissioner Chandrasekhar Salunkhe, Aurangabad Division Joint Commissioner Uday Vanjari, Amravati Division Joint Commissioner Suresh Annapure, Food and Drug Administration Commissionerate Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhary, Food and Drug Administration Commissionerate Food Safety Officer Archana Wanare were present.
