Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections which will be held this month, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut made a controversial remark against the most watched left candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, calling him a “bottle of poison.”

In an article published in Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece – Saamana, Raut asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should make sure that Kumar is not elected in Lok Sabha “even at the cost of tampering the EVMs.”

Raut further stated that the Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate Kumar’s win in Lok Sabha polls will be a defeat for India’s constitution. Kumar, former Jawaharlal Nehru Students’ Union (JNUSU) President, is contesting from Begusarai LS constituency in Bihar.

Even after the opposition alliance in Bihar blocked the way for left parties to join hands against BJP, CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar has managed to emerge as the fresh face of the left in electoral politics. BJP has fielded Union Minister Giriraj Singh against Kumar.
