Teachers across the state continue their protest at Azad Maidan, demanding increased grant funding for unaided schools. The protest, which began in response to the government's unfulfilled decision from October 2024 to provide phased grants, has been gaining political backing.

NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar has been actively participating since Tuesday, even staying overnight at the protest site. He has pledged to remain with the teachers until their demands are addressed.

On Wednesday, NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Sharad Pawar also joined the protest, meeting with teachers and expressing solidarity. His presence follows that of MP Supriya Sule, who had earlier extended her support.

Other political figures including Jayant Asgaonkar, former MLA Shrikant Deshpande, Jammu Abhyankar, and Konkan region’s teacher MLA Dnyaneshwar Mhatre are also present at the site.

Following the strong political support and the growing momentum of the protest, discussions have been held with state minister Girish Mahajan. A positive dialogue reportedly took place, raising hopes among the protestors.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to meet with representatives of the protesting teachers on Wednesday afternoon in a bid to resolve the issue.
