Third-party voters in the Lok Sabha elections did not have a distinct record in 2004 and 2009. For the first time during the 2014 elections, third party voters were categorised as transgenders along with male voters, female voters. Now, the number of transgender voters has more than doubled compared to 2019 and the highest turnout of such voters has been recorded in Thane across Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, according to data revealed by the Election Commission, in the state, Pune district has the highest number of voters. Besides, in four districts Nandurbar, Gondia, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, the number of female voters is more than male voters.

In 2014, 918 voters were registered in the third party electorate. The number has increased to 2,086 in 2019. As on April 4, 2023, the total number of third party voters in the state is 5,617. Of these, there are a total of 1,279 third party voters in Thane. There are 812 voters in Mumbai and 726 in Pune.

There are 9 third party voters registered in Gondia, 9 in Gadchiroli, 7 in Hingoli, 5 in Bhandari and 1 in Sindhudurg. Following a Supreme Court (SC) order, in 2014, third party voters got the right to vote and since then the group has been registered in such an independent category.
