Another driver employed under Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has been tested positive for the coronavirus. This comes days after two of Thackeray’s drivers were tested COVID-19 positive. 

The three drivers have been admitted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment. Of these, two drivers who tested positive earlier are in stable condition. 

Earlier, two of the staffer working in Thackeray’s residence - Krishnakunj - were also tested positive for the coronavirus. According to reports, they were admitted at Sevenhills Hospital and may get discharged soon. 

The sources have informed that following these incidents, Raj Thackeray and his family including his son Amit Thackeray have been advised home quarantine. 

Earlier, two policemen deployed outside Thackeray’s house in Dadar West were also tested positive for the coronavirus. However, they got discharged from the hospital after getting recovered from COVID-19 and returned to their duty. 

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena Bhavan was also shut down from June 22 as a precautionary measure after a Shiv Sainik tested COVID-19 positive. This was done to ensure the safety of the Sena leaders and workers who visit regularly to the central office of the party. 

The routine party work held at Sena Bhavan has been halted and the building went under the sanitisation process. The Sena functionaries have been asked to not visit the central office. 

Maharashtra has been the worst-hit state in India due to the coronavirus outbreak. As of June 28, the number of cases in the state has risen to 1,64,626 and the death toll has reached 7,429. In Mumbai alone, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased 7,5539 while the death toll in the financial capital has touched 4,371.
