Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took a dug at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Gopichand Padalkar over his “derogatory” remarks against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar.

Pawar said that people should respect each other while criticising and should keep in mind their own worth as they speak against anyone. Some people think that they will become famous by speaking against eminent people, he added.

Padalkar, who was earlier with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), has sparked an outrage after he said that Sharad Pawar was a corona which has infected Maharashtra. He has received huge criticism from the NCP cadre. Even Devendra Fadnavis jumped in to control the damage and said labelled Padalkar’s remarks as inappropriate.

“Sharad Pawar is coronavirus for Maharashtra. He has been leading the state for several years but has only oppressed people from the backward class and will continue to do so in the future. I don’t think that he will be positive about the demand of reservation for the Dhangar community,” Padalkar had said during a press conference earlier.

While reacting to Padalkar’s remarks, the Deputy CM said that every person should speak keeping in min their own worth and should respect each other. “This is our culture. This is what late Yashwantrao Chavan has taught us and we should follow it,” the media reports quoted Pawar as saying.

Pawar, who defeated Padalkar in 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections from Baramati constituency, said that one can find what the BJP MLC had said about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Padalkar lost against Pawar with a huge margin losing his deposit from the Baramati assembly constituency.

“Some cheap people think they can become famous by talking against big people,” Pawar said while recalling that late Arun Jaitley had praised the NCP chief.

“Arun Jaitley had said that the entire country will be developed if it has 100 towns like Baramati. Jaitley was seen as second-in-command after Modi. All respect Pawar saheb,” he added.
