On Wednesday, November 10, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede refuted the allegations made by Maharashtra Minister, Nawab Malik. He stated that the face value of the counterfeit notes seized in 2017 was nearly INR 10 lakhs and not INR 14cr, adding that three people were also nabbed for the same, reported ANI.

Based on the account, he mentioned that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to look into the case, but the NIA did not do so.

Wankhede’s reply came after Malik’s allegation that post demonetization; counterfeit notes were operating in Maharashtra when the Devendra Fadnavis led BJP government was in power.

Additionally, on Tuesday, November 9, Wankhede’s father Dnyandev Wankhede, wife Kranti Redkar and sister Yasmeen met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Narratives highlight that they gave the Governor a memorandum and he assured them that everything will be fine. Redkar elaborated that they spoke to the Governor about what was happening to them and didn’t go there with a complaint adding that they needed strength which he provided them with.

Moreover, Wankhede’s sister-in-law Hridaya Banerjee, on Tuesday, November 9, gave a letter at Goregaon police station in Mumbai asking that an FIR be filed against Malik and political analyst Nishant Verma for criminal intimidation, stated accounts.
