In the press conference held on Wednesday, November 10, member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Nawab Malik accused former state Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis of criminalizing politics, cited reports. This comes after Fadnavis's allegations towards Malik on Tuesday.

Malik alleged that Fadnavis has an old relation with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede which is why the former is attempting to defend the officer. Malik stated that Fadnavis operated a nexus of fake currency in the state when he was the Chief Minister, highlighted accounts.

A name that also crept up during the press conference was that of Riyaz Bhati who is believed to be a close aid of underworld gangster, Dawood Ibrahim. Malik believes that Fadnavis must elucidate who Bhati is, questioning that Bhati was caught with a fake passport a few days ago but was let off in two days.

Malik posed a question to Fadnavis, inquiring why Bhati was seen with the former CM and at BJP events. Adding that Bhati was present even during events that had Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. He stated that the biggest question is how an individual like Bhati was able to attend an event wherein the PM was present.

According to reports, Malik spoke about how he thinks Fadnavis has protected a number of criminals like Bhati and Munna Yadav amidst his tenure. Adding that Yadav was made chairman of the Construction Workers’ Board by Fadnavis. Similarly, he mentioned that a Haidar Azam who was involved in the illegal immigration of Bangladeshis was made chairman of the Maulana Azad Finance Corporation by Fadnavis.

Malik then shifted his focus to Wankhede alleging that the latter was part of a DRI investigation where fake notes amounting to INR 14cr were seized from Mumbai’s BKC in 2017. Malik is of the opinion that it is owing to the friendship between Wankhede and Fadnavis that criminal activities were booming in the city and state during the rule of BJP.

Speaking about the drugs on the cruise case, he wants the matter to be probed on why Aryan Khan was invited to the cruise, whilst also mentioning the alleged money sought for the release of the latter. He requested the corporation of the concerned parties with the SIT on the drugs case.

Malik ended by elaborating on how he has many more revelations to make some of which he will do in the Vidhan Sabha.
