As soon as the Maharashtra Legislature winter session started, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alleged corruption charges against former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government regarding the Shiv Smarak (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s memorial). The winter session is underway in Nagpur.

While talking to the media, Mumbai NCP President Nawab Malik said that the corruption has happened in the construction of a memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The memorial is proposed to be built in the Arabian sea.

Malik stated that they will raise the issue in the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra legislature and will not keep quiet. NCP had raised this issue of corruption ahead of the state assembly polls too.

NCP leader Nawab Malik has alleged former Maharashtra Public and Works Department (PWD) minister Chandrakant Patil of “corruption”.

Malik further narrated there has been corruption in the due process of the project and an official had earlier submitted a report to CAG highlighting the same.

Chandrakant Patil was the minister at that time and he is also under the radar. Earlier, we have asked questions related to corruption in Shiv Smarak project but we never got the answers. Shiv Smarak will be built for sure but we will investigate the corruption too,” said Malik.
