Nifty Ends Below 14,350, Sensex Falls 202 Points.

The market benchmarks closed lower by almost half a per cent each post a volatile trading session. IT and FMCG stocks dragged the index.

At close, the BSE Sensex was down 202 points or 0.42 per cent at 47,878.45 while the Nifty closed 65 points, or 0.45 per cent down at 14,341.35.

On the Nifty 50 index, Power Grid Corp (3.78 per cent), NTPC (3.64 per cent), Axis Bank (1.92 per cent), IndusInd Bank (1.71 per cent) and BPCL (1.12 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while M&M (-2.73 per cent), Britannia (-2.71 per cent), Dr Reddys Labs (-2.56 per cent), Wipro (-2.25 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (-1.82 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, except Nifty Energy and Nifty PSU Banks all other sectoral indices ended in red.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.16 per cent and 0.51 per cent each.

Author’s View: Traders should refrain from building fresh position until we witness correction till 14,180 – 14,200 or breakout above 14,400.
