Simple Power of Sport & Inclusion can bring about multi layered changes and after 50 long years, Special Olympics has been trying to give people with intellectual disability the right platform to showcase their talent. On the occasion of their 50th anniversary, Special Olympics is celebrating creating a more inclusive, welcoming world for all.
The global celebrations will inspire new generations to see the beauty, dignity of people with Intellectual Disabilities.
To celebrate and commemorate this momentous occasion, Special Olympics Bharat has organised some events in Mumbai

Special Olympics Bharat Maharashtra organises a Fund-Raising Football event called KICK A THON. 20 Unified Teams will compete in a 5 a side tournament. Each team has 3 players with Intellectual Disability & 2 Mainstream (Normal school) players.

The tour of the WWE superstar upholds the partnership of WWE with Special Olympics in support of play Unified & SOs campaign of creating change through sport.
Special Olympics Bharat Team participates in the golden jubilee celebration in Chicago. SOB Maharashtra is extremely proud of their athlete Ms Trupti Shelar from lions Juhu Centre, Khar West, Mumbai who has been selected to represent Special Olympics Bharat as a part of Unified Football Female Team.

Special Olympics Bharat is a National Sports Federation accredited by Special Olympics Inc to conduct its sports Programs all over India. It organizes Olympic-type sports for persons with intellectual disabilities with over 1.4 million athletes registered in the program currently. Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the Special Olympics movement has grown from a few hundred athletes to 5.5 million athletes in 172 countries.
Special Olympics Bharat is recognised by the Government of India as a National Sports Federation in the Priority Category for the development of Sports for Persons with Intellectual Disability and has been designated as the Nodal Agency by the Government for all disabilities on account of its national presence, outreach and experience. The program spreads across all the States and Union Territories of India
