Ever thought that your hobby will help you make a name on an international level?

Meet 20-year-old Chinmay Prabhu from Mumbai who not only made a Limca Record but also 2 Guinness World Record from his hobby, the recent one being solving 176 pyraminx cube in 1 hour and 7 minutes. In an exclusive interview with Chinmay Prabhu who had won a Guinness World Record for solving 9 pyraminx underwater in 1 minute 48 seconds has set yet another record, we delve deep into his process.

I was 16 when I saw one of my friend solving a Rubik's cube and I have been fascinated by it since then. I first tried with the normal Rubik's cube and then started exploring various variants. I currently have over 80 types of cube at home and there are many more in my to-be-brought list. My relatives from abroad keep on showering me with different cubes from Hong Kong and States.

The Record In The Making

I realised that I could solve Rubik's cube really fast and thought of making a Guinness World Record by the amalgamation of 2 of my passions- cubes and swimming. As I had already won a Limca Record for solving cubes blindfolded, taking it to another level was definitely on the platter. My application got accepted by the Guinness authorities and they had told me that I should solve at least 4. I solved 9 pyramix i.e. pyramid-shaped cubes underwater in 1 minute 48 seconds. It was surreal when I held the certificate in my hand. I did not want to stop after that and attempted another record with my another passion of cycling and recently achieved that as well.

Reaction?

It feels totally incredible to have another Guinness World Record title on my name. Another feather in my cap!
