Owing to heavy showers, the Kolhapur district has faced flooding. This has majorly impacted the Gokul milk collection. Thus, Gokul’s milk supply to Mumbai on Saturday will be ceased.

The flooding has adversely impacted the milk collection which has diminished by 76,000 litres. Additionally, reports claim that on Friday the collection is expected to reduce by 10-11 lakh litres. Vishwas Patil, Gokul President has explained how a majority of the roads in the rural areas are shut due to the floods. This has naturally impacted Gokul’s milk collection.

Reports state that the meteorological department has issued red alerts in Maharashtra’s five districts. Similarly, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai. Additionally, it is forecasted that heavy rains will be witnessed in Sindhudurg and Kolhapur. The Panchaganga River in Kolhapur is said to have crossed the danger mark. Apart from water-logging in many parts of the city, vehicles are being prohibited to travel through a certain part of the Mumbai-Bangalore national highway owing to flooding.

On Thursday, nine rescue teams were deployed in Maharashtra by the National Disaster Response Force to conduct rescue and prevention operations.

The Indian Meteorological Department has reported flooding in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar and Thane districts amongst many others. Additionally, Naval and army units have also come to aid in the flood-hit Ratnagiri and Raigad areas.
