On the occasion of the 350th coronation year of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, 3 lakh 50 thousand school and college girl students will be given training in self-defence. Women and Child Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha told a press conference held in the auditorium of the ministry that a three-day training program will be started from July 3 to 15 on the occasion of Gurupurnima with the help of Women and Child Development Department and Cooperative Department.


It will be implemented in coordination between all the universities and non-governmental organisations of the state. Rajmata Jijau Girls Self Defense Training Program will be implemented in the state to teach self defence lessons to school and college going girls. With the help of all the universities and voluntary organisations of the state, a plan has been made to organise self-defence camps for girl students at taluka level. Counselling sessions will be organised for three days to boost the morale of the girls.

First Day
Bhartiya Stree Shakti Sanstha will provide guidance on the concept and current status of violence against women and girls. 1k girls will participate in the training which will run from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Second Day
The basic training in self defence will be from 9:00 am to 9:45 am and there will be 20 trainers to train 1000 young women. Modern training will be from 10.05 am to 10.50 am and there will be 20 trainers to train 1000 young women.

Third Day
The demonstration and practice training will take place from 9:00 am to 9:45 am and there will be 20 trainers to train 1000 girls. There will be demonstration and practice from 10:05 am to 10:50 am and 20 coaches will be there to train 1000 girls.

After this three-day camp, considering the number of girls interested in self-defence training, a self-defence training camp will be organised the next day through the department. A memorandum of understanding has also been signed between Mumbai University, SNDT, Bharatiya Stree Shakti Sansthan and Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust.
