Out of 4.3 lakh voters in the age group of 18 to 19, 8 lakh and 1.64 crore out of 2 crore 2.8 lakh eligible voters in the age group of 20 to 21 had registered on April 30, 2023. So it is a fact that due to the revision program of the Election Commission there is a depression in voter registration among the youth of the state.


In the background of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission has announced a special brief revision program for the registration of names in the voter list for eligible citizens on January 1, 2024. Out of 42,98,756 voters in the age group of 18 to 19 years in the state, 8,35,883 were actually registered at the end of April 30, 2023. Out of 2,28,54,693 people in the age group of 20 to 29 years, 1,64,5181 people registered. While in the age group of 30-39, 2,05,44,480 people have registered out of 2,15,60,643. The total number of registered voters till 30th April 2023 is 9,03,262 voters. Voter increase is expected in the revision program.

Updating electoral rolls is very important for conducting elections in a transparent and fair environment. The draft list will be published on the website of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and at the Electoral Registration Offices on October 17, 2023. Voters can enter their name, address, gender, date of birth, age, identity card number, constituency etc. It is necessary to check the details in the electoral roll to ensure that they are correct.


Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Deshpande said that the period from October 17 to November 30 is for voter registration and objections regarding names.
