According to the latest reports, the hospitality industry in Maharashtra has urged Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to provide 50 per cent fees waivers for the fiscal year 2021-22. For they believe that the actual functional days at a capacity of 100 per cent were a mere 28 out of 365 days.

However, while doing so, they also thanked the state government for giving 7.5 per cent relief in excise fees in the fiscal year 2022-23.

Based on accounts, the Hotels and Restaurants Association of Western India wrote a letter to Thackeray wherein they elaborated on how it is known that nearly 30 per cent of hotels and restaurants have closed down permanently in the waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The letter added that many lakhs of employees, as well as the owners, were not only displaced but also lost their livelihoods. However, in spite of the issues faced, relief has not been granted to the industry.

It has been reported that the association threw light on the fact that there were swerve restrictions of different degrees and nature that were enforced by the Disaster Management Authority.

Apart from this, speculations have been made that the Maharashtra government could relax the majority of the coronavirus restrictions imposed. This comes amidst the fall in cases reported across the state.
