The Board of Directors of the Jain Minority Development Financial Corporation has approved the construction of student hostels at seven locations across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. The decision was taken during the Corporation's fourth Board meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Lalit Gandhi.

The Board also approved a revised format for the Corporation's loan and interest repayment scheme aimed at improving the implementation of financial assistance programs.

Focus on Welfare and Development Schemes

The meeting featured detailed discussions on the implementation of the Vihar Dham Nirman Yojana (Vihar Dham Construction Scheme) and the School Modernization and Empowerment Scheme. The Board also reviewed the necessary procedures for securing financial assistance from the National Minority Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC).

Responding to long-pending demands from the Jain community, the Board resolved to establish student hostels at seven locations across the state to provide better accommodation facilities for students pursuing higher education.

Skill Development and Literary Initiative

The Board also decided to prepare a time-bound action plan for the creation of a Marathi Jain Literature Encyclopedia to preserve and promote Jain literary heritage in the Marathi language.

In collaboration with the Skill Development Department, the Corporation will launch a special outreach campaign to ensure that Jain youth benefit from skill development training, the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Programme, and other employment-oriented initiatives.

The meeting also discussed strengthening the implementation of various welfare schemes for women's self-help groups in coordination with the Women and Child Development Department.

₹100 Crore Funding Secured

Acting on the Chief Minister's suggestion, a special meeting was recently held in New Delhi to enhance the Jain community's participation in the Corporation's schemes and improve awareness about the available benefits.

During the meeting, Chairman Lalit Gandhi was felicitated for playing a key role in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Minority Development and Finance Corporation, through which the Jain Minority Economic Development Corporation secured ₹100 crore in financial assistance. Coordinator Sandeep Bhandari moved a motion congratulating the Chairman on this achievement, which was unanimously approved by all Board members.
