In a city known for its bustling energy, the LGBTQ+ community of Mumbai is driven by the passion and courage of its members. Let's look at the five individuals who have been at the forefront of Mumbai's LGBTQ+ landscape in no particular order. They are creating change, fostering acceptance, and challenging societal norms.

Gurleen Arora, also known as Melancholia, is a multifaceted thespian, drag artist, and writer. Together with Winnie Chopra, they co-founded The Gay Gaze Bombay. It is a community platform that provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals in Mumbai. Throughout this Pride month, her platform organised a series of events called Queer Island in Mumbai to celebrate Pride. It offered support and provided valuable information for the community. They also gave queer or woman-led small businesses a platform.

Anwesh Sahoo, a writer, model, and blogger, made history when he was crowned Mr. Gay World India in 2016 at the age of 20. Representing India at the Mr. Gay World pageant held in Malta, Europe, Anwesh achieved a spot in the prestigious Top 12.
