At the Raj Bhavan, Governor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari awarded 31 individuals with the prestigious “Mumbai Ratna” awards for their contributions. The said award was presented by Films Today, Nana Nani Foundation and Enarr Group.
Some of the many awardees included the likes of Chairman, Godrej Group, Adi Godrej, Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Construction Engineer, Niranjan Hiranandani and Advocate, Ujjwal Nikam amongst others.

Whilst the Governor on the occasion mentioned that entrepreneurs, artists, lawyers and medical experts are all contributing to society in their own way, he added that everyone should further contribute to society to make the country self-reliant. This can be done, through offering health care and education to all as well as eradicating poverty, he said.
Apart from the names mentioned above, other awardees included Indian Express Group's Anant Goenka, Medical Expert Dr Gautam Bhansali, Manju Lodha, Playback Singer Udit Narayan, Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota, Union Bank President Rajkiran Rai, Dr Shoma Ghosh, Ashish Chauhan and others. Ratan Tata, Honorary Chairman, Tata Group and Anil Agarwal, Vedanta Group, however, could not attend the event.
