On Thursday, March 31, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey took to Twitter to announce that the Sunday Street initiative has gotten bigger starting Sunday, April 3. Three additional locations have been added by the authorities.

The Mumbai Police will be present at the drive and so will their band, therefore, Pandey has urged Mumbaikars to join in the initiative.

The Sunday Street Concept is part of the city’s police’s attempt to enable the ease of living in Mumbai. Therefore, on Sundays for a few hours, Mumbai roads are used for a range of recreational activities that include the likes of jogging, yoga, skating, cycling and cultural sports amongst others.

The first Sunday Street concept in Mumbai was implemented on March 27, from 6 am to 10 am in the following locations on these streets:

However, now the Mumbai Police has added to the list of roads, people can celebrate the Sunday Streets starting on April 3, these entail:

  • Chembur: Chimni Garden Road (Aloysius Soares Marg)
  • MHB Colony: IC Colony Dahisar West Behind YCMA Garden
  • Samta Nagar: Thakur Village EMP Circle

Those participating in the drive have been asked to refrain from promoting businesses, using loudspeakers, political or religious activities, smoking, consuming alcohol and littering.
