Parel-'Arunachya Nimittane ' a book written by Lokvagmay Griha dedicated to the memory of Aruna Shanbhag , a nurse from KEM hospital who fell prey to sexual assault of a ward boy in 1973 and spent years in a coma , was published at old nurses hostel of KEM hospital.The principal of nurses department Purva Khandare , author Sunita Kulkarni , Seema Ketkar , Dean of KEM Dr H.D.Gwalani were present at the occasion .The accused in Aruna's case got sentenced only for 7 years as the laws were not strict for sexual harassment and assault at workplace then .But today there are stringent laws .Women should be aware of them so they can protect themselves against these atrocities , said principal of nurses department Purva Khandare at this occasion.
