Indian athletes have been making a commendable effort at the Asian Games 2018, which is being held at Jakarta this year. One such player, Rahi Sarnobat from Maharashtra’s Kolhapur won a gold medal in 25m pistol. Sarnobat is the first Indian female shooter to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. While the whole country has lauded her feat, Maharashtra Chief Minister made an announcement regarding the medal winners at Asian Games and has declared prize money for them.

Till now, India has won 15 medals at the Asian Games and out of which athletes have won four gold medals. Amongst the four gold medals, the Kolhapur resident’s gold has infused a feeling of pride and happiness amongst all the Maharashtrians. Sarnobat won against Thailand’s Naphaswan Yangpaiboon in the 25m air pistol shooting.
Prior to her maiden gold, she had won a bronze medal in the 2014 Asian Games.
