Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Harmeet Desai beat Nigeria 3-0 in the final to clinch gold

After the women's team won gold yesterday, the men weren't too behind as they beat Nigeria 3-0 in the final.

It was a straight sweep thanks to Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Harmeet Desai. Sathiyan and Harmeet Desai won the doubles match in straight games to bring home the gold.

The duo won the third game 11-8, 11-5, 11-3.

 

Achanta Sharath Kamal beat Abiodun 4-11, 11-5,11-4, 11-9 after which Sathiyan Gnanasekaran beat Seguntoriola 10-12, 11-3, 11-3, 11-4. After 12 long years, the men's Table Tennis team has won a gold at the Commonwealth Games. 

India won gold back in 2006. The women's team led by Manika Batra won gold on Sunday, April 8 and the men's made sure India leave a solid mark in the Table Tennis field. 

Nigeria settled for Silver while England won Bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Men's Table Tennis event.
