Mumbai: It was a cold and chilly early morning at the Holkar Stadium in Indore as Mumbai took on Gujarat in the finals of the Ranji Trophy. At stumps on day 1 Gujarat were 2/0 as Mumbai were all out on 228.
On a moist wicket, Parthiv Patel won the toss and as expected invited Mumbai to bat. RP Singh got the early wicket of Akhil Herwadkar as Mumbai could not recover from early setbacks.
Except young Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav scored half centuries, none of the other Mumbai batsmen could stay afloat.
All the Gujarat bowlers used the conditions perfectly and shared wickets among themselves. Mumbai were all out on 228 in 83.5 overs.
Gujarat batsmen had to just play out a couple of overs till stumps on Day 1.
Tomorrow will be a very important day for the Mumbai bowlers as they will have to make early inroads in the Gujarat batting line up to give themselves a chance in their quest to their 42nd Ranji Title.
