The yellow brigade has been relegated from the I league. Mumbai FC drew against Shillong Lajong FC at Cooperage with relegation as the inevitable. But Mumbai FC did put up a fight in front on a few supports in the audience. So Mumbai FC will not feature in the I league next year.

This year the journey has been topsy turvy for Mumbai as they could not get their act together. Coach Oscar Bruzon took over the reins midway after Santosh Kashyap was sacked. But Bruzon could not have been expected to create a resurgence all of a sudden.

He did make 5 changes to the lineup in this match and it did work well. But what can one do when you start a game with the knowledge that you will not be among the big names next year.

Mumbai took the lead and maintained it almost till the end. When a surprise win was looking possible, Shillong Lajong struck back to force a draw.

The next season is nothing short of a summit for Mumbai as they will have to get their act together and fight it out in the second division and get back in the main draw but till then it will be a test of the mental strength of the Mumbai FC players, coach and the management.
