Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer has been called as a cover for Virat Kohli at Dharamshala for the final test against Australia. Virat Kohli was injured while fielding during the test match at Ranchi. Though it was not a serious injury, Virat has not been able to recover fully.
Hence Shreyas has been called as a backup. Shreyas missed out on the annual BCCI contract but he has been performing consistently over the past couple of years.
He scored a century against the visiting Bangladeshi side at Hyderabad playing for India A and later made an unbeaten century against Australia at the Brabourne Stadium.
If Virat does not play at Dharamshala, Mumbaikar Ajinkya Rahane may captain the side.
