In recent developments, State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sunil Kedar has stated that the construction of stalled and proposed sports complexes in the state, including Mumbai, would be resumed soon.

On Saturday, March 6, Sports Minister Sunil Kedar visited various sports complexes in Mumbai. Moreover, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad and the people's representatives of the area were present on the occasion.

Speaking regarding the same, Kedar elucidated, "Sports is an area where there is equality between men and women, there is no politics of caste discrimination, there is no rich-poor distinction. The man moves forward only on the strength of quality. As per the demands of the residents of the area where the stadiums are located and local leaders, work on the sports complexes proposed by the government in various departments are to be resumed as soon as possible.”

On the other hand, earlier on December 23, the Maharashtra government allowed watersports, nauka vihar, amusement parks and indoor entertainment activities to resume in the state. Moreover, the Uddhav Thackeray-led government also permitted the reopening of tourist places outside containment zones.

A government circular dated December 21 stated that all social distancing norms and COVID-19 precautions have to be followed while performing these activities to avoid the spread of the contagious disease. In recent times, cases of coronavirus have been witnessed across Maharashtra, however, on January 3, the Drugs Controller General of India approved COVISHIELD and COVAXIN for restricted emergency use.
