The 15th edition of Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) is a few hours away and all runners are busy with last minute prep as they want to complete the task they’re going to set out for on Sunday morning. As we know the Metro construction has slightly altered the way things function in the city, the organisers have made alterations in the finish route for the elite runners over the last 700 metres.

The organisers of TMM said ongoing work of metro across the city as led them to make changes in the route so that the runners do not face any problem in reaching the finish line.

Hugh Jones, Race Director said that the changes made on the return route, that involved three turns instead of a single one before the runners sprinted over the last half km to the finish earlier, will not affect the timings by much in the 15th edition of the race.

According to a report in The Freepress Journal, Hugh Jones said, “Because of the metro construction work, the marathon course has changed slightly, but not significantly. It is about 100m here and there. But we have also dropped some two U-turns after three years and kept one on the course. Over the last 700 metres there are three turns. It will add to the competitive spirit of the finish."

The turns over the last 700m will be taken by the runners with 650m, 350m and 260m left for the finish at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM).
