WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature which allows only admins to send messages in groups in a group setting.

As most of the groups receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centres, and non-profit organisations, the current feature will be able to help avoid unnecessary conversations that take place in groups.

Along with this, it will put a stop to rumours which cause unrest. These rumours have lead to deaths and mob lynching in the past. So far, 10 deaths have taken place because of rumours spread on WhatsApp.

Henceforth, if the setting is enabled, members will not be able to send any message without the admin’s permission.

How do you enable this feature?

In order to enable this setting, open Group Info → tap on group settings → tap on send messages → select only admins.

Here, you can restrict other members from changing the description and photos by tapping on edit group info.
