Popular television actor Gautam Rode, who has been known for several roles, is all set to make his theatrical debut with his play 'Aarohi'. The play will be premiering in Mumbai this month, where Gautam will play the role of a Kathak dancer and will also be doing a two-minute solo Kathak performance.

Talking about the same, Gautam said, "Theatre is for you if you truly want to act and test yourself. There is no room for error as you are performing in front of a live audience. I am not a dancer. In fact, I have no formal training in dance. I hesitated when the play came to me wondering if this will be my cup of tea or not. The last couple of months I have been training in and learning Kathak. What makes it all the more challenging is that I have a two-minute performance with Dhani Jhankal, who is playing the role of younger Aarohi and she has been training in Kathak since the age of two. It's not easy to perform with someone who has been training for so many years. I'm challenging the performer within me."

The actor also took to Twitter to announce the same, with a message that read, "Thrilled to announce my first venture in theatre, 'Aarohi'. Being a non-dancer and essaying the role of a Kathak dancer makes me excited yet nervous! Here's the first look ... stay tuned while I take you through my journey!"

The actor is currently learning Kathak from Anita Ordia, who was trained under the legendary  Birju Maharaj. Aarohi is a play is centred around four actors which includes Dhani, Ravi Jhankal and Mita Vasisht.
