Mumbai's iconic Prithvi Theatre is now 40 years old!

The popular theatre destination celebrates 40 Years with a festival, the performances of which in 3 theatres: Prithvi Theatre, Royal Opera House and G5A. This festival will also see a revival of Prithviraj Kapoor’s play ‘Deewar’ premiering on his birthday at the Royal Opera House, where it was originally premiered in 1945.

It was back on November 5, in 1978, when Prithvi saw its very first performance of Majma’s ‘Udhwast Dharmshala’ starring Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. This year on November 5, Prithvi Festival will kick off at the Theatre with Motley’s ‘The Truth’ starring Naseeruddin Shah.

Like always, Prithvi Theatre will once again look forward to creating a memorable experience for the audience, who will be able to see glimpses of the old world charm mixed with modern, contemporary pieces leading the way forward for theatre, and a grand finale at Prithvi Theatre by NCPA's SOI on the last day.

The festival will commence on November 3, 2018, at the Royal Opera House. This will be followed by shows at Prithvi Theatre from November 5 until November 12.
