Mumbaikars brace up for an 11-hour mega block on the Western line between February 2 and February 3. During this period, no local train services will ply between Lower Parel and Churchgate on account of the demolition of Delisle bridge.

More than 200 train services will be canceled and many long-distance trains will be terminated at Dadar instead of at the Mumbai Central railway station.

On the morning of February 2, Saturday, trains will be terminated at Dadar. Commuters who are heading further south of Mumbai will have to switch to Central Railways (CR) at Dadar. Although the WR officials are planning to complete the demolition within 11 hours, the mega block is likely to start from 10:00 pm and will last till 10:00 am.

The WR has set a target of ten months to construct the new stainless steel bridge on the same location.

The cost of construction is said to be ₹84 crore and the new bridge will cross all six lines between Mumbai Central and Borivali. The bridge was shut for vehicular traffic in July 2018 and since August 20, the WR started dismantling the bridge.
