Railways have broken their own records with the highest revenue in the year 2018-19 by grossing ₹3,059.3 crore. Out of this, They earned ₹779.52 crores from its suburban operations, which is 2.92 per cent more than the previous financial year. The Mumbai division has earned from advertising, ticket checking etc.

Compared to last year, the earnings from the goods increased by 59 per cent with ₹57.12 crores, while the revenue from passengers was ₹26,89,07 crores. The ticket checking drive earned ₹6,59,36 crores, which is 18.38 per cent more than the previous year. In the last financial year, the division ended 12 unmanned level crossings by introducing subways and 39-foot overbridges.  

Along with earnings, the Railways have also benefited a lot in the sale of mobile tickets. In the month of March, Central Railway sold 13,79,677 e-tickets. Similarly, Western Railway has sold 8,88,629 mobile tickets. Twenty-two million tickets were sold in the month of March.
