Travelling standing near the door of local trains or long distance trains is proving to be fatal. In the last three years, 75 passengers got hit by a pole near the tracks while travelling and got grievously injured.

At present on a daily basis, 40 lakh passengers are using the Central Railway Suburban line for their commuting. Prior to the pandemic, the same number was 45 lakh. Apart from this, passengers while alight and board express trains departing and arriving from CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Dadar Terminus also add to the number. Out of these, 20 passengers lost their lives while 55 passengers sustained injuries. Of the total 75 accidents, 47 accidents took place in the Mumbai section of Central Railway.
