Tuesday onwards, one can get onto an AC electric bus from Mumbai airport terminal 2 (T2) to areas such as CSMT, Nariman Point, Gateway of India, Bandra Kurla Complex, highlighted reports. On Sunday, the e-bus services were launched by Aaditya Thackeray the state environment minister.

He inaugurated 60 zero pollution and noiseless AC buses that went across the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Based on accounts, Lokesh Chandra the BEST General Manager the buses will function through the sea link while accommodating passengers every day from the airport to south Mumbai.

The initial road is set to be from T2 through the Western Express Highway, Bandra-Worli sea link, Nehru Planetarium, Pt Paluskar Chowk, Haji Ali, Marine Lines through the Trident Hotel, Nariman Point, Gateway of India and CSMT. The other road will be through the T2 to the BKC through the Western Express Highway, Kalanagar and many buses stops through the BKC, claimed accounts.

However, amidst this Thackeray stated that he didn’t want the double-decker buses to be phased out thus the BEST proclaimed tenders for 200 AC electric double-deckers. By 2022, the electric buses will be purchased of which 1,400 will be AC electric single-decker, 400 midi AC, 100 mini AC and 200 double-decker electric-AC. The authorities are looking to make 100% of its fleet electric in the years ahead.
