Mahim – The actual work of RoRo passenger service from Bhaucha Dhakka to Mandva to Nerul has been started. The service will be launched in March 2018. With this, the dream of Mumbaikars regarding water transport is going to be fulfilled. On Monday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan for the oil jetty, passenger terminal and bunkering terminal at Bhaucha Dhakka. The bhoomipujan for water transport service from Bhaucha Dhakka-Mandva-Nerul was also performed here. It is to be mentioned here that currently, it takes around 2 and half to 3 hours to cover the distance between Mandva-Bhaucha Dhakka-Nerul. But after the beginning of the RoRo service, this distance would be covered only in 15-17 minutes saving fuel, as well as reduce pollution and road traffic.
