With the city seeing a new spike in coronavirus cases, officials from the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) said that all flights will now operate out of Terminal 2 (T2) at Sahar from April 21.

Domestic flight operators currently manage their operations from T2 and T1 (Vile Parle). When domestic flights were restarted in May 2020 after a two-month pause, domestic and international flights were only allowed to operate from T2.

However, this was changed gradually as restrictions eased. By March 10 this year, airlines like IndiGo, AirAsia, GoAir, TruJet, and Star Air moved a bulk of their operations to T1. However, taking the health situation into account, MIAL has now directed airlines to go back to operating out of T2.

On a positive note, this will ease the trouble for travellers as flights will only operate out of one terminal (T2).

“During challenging times, Mumbai airport has been working closely with stakeholders and regulatory and government bodies to curb spread of the virus. The airport is strictly adhering to guidelines laid down by ministry of civil aviation and government of Maharashtra,” the MIAL said in a statement.
