Since yesterday, April 7, it has been observed that some videos and pictures of crowded trains and stations have surfaced on social media. However, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Central Railways Shivaji Sutar and General Manager Sanjeev Mittal held a press conference and clarified saying that these are old and fake.

The CPRO said, “People should not believe in any such rumours.” He also appealed to not reshare such videos and pictures without confirming it with the railway authorities.

Moreover, the CR administration has also said that an investigation in the matter will take place and strict action will be taken against the offenders under the cybercrime Act, 2001.

He also said Railways run more trains in summer for the convenience of passengers and adequate tickets are available as only passengers having confirmed tickets are being permitted to board the trains.

Mittal added passengers are advised to adhere to all norms, SOPs related to COVID-19 during the boarding, travel and at the destination.

Meanwhile, Shalabh Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, also appealed to passengers to wear mask properly, wash hands regularly with soap/water and sanitize and maintain social distance to prevent the spread of COVID19.

Besides, in a bid to avoid over-crowding at railway premises during the upcoming summer season in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Central Railway zone of Indian Railways has decided to ban the sale of platform tickets at LTT, Kalyan, Thane, Dadar, CSMT stations with an immediate effect from today, April 9.
