Bandra auto drivers take commuters for a ride

SHARES

Bandra - Commuters alighting at Bandra railway station are a harried lot, with autorickshaw drivers refusing to charge commuters according to the meters. Long queues outside the station are a norm now and getting rickshaws on a sharing basis is difficult too. Says Bandra senior traffic police inspector Machhindra Bodke, “On 20 October, we took action against 57 auto rickshaw drivers. They were booked for driving without licenses or uniforms and badges and were commuting with more than three passengers. We have instructed the auto drivers’ union to install a board describing auto fares.”
